Member Sunday + Celebration

During our Sunday Worship Gathering, we will confirm the membership of many at Trinity, followed by a celebration just down the street.

We will gather at Joyride Brewery following our Sunday Worship Gathering as we celebrate the beginning of summer and Pentecost.  Please come by and join us as we attempt to renew the church’s task of celebrating God’s grace towards His people not only at Christmas and Easter, but at other important moments in the church calendar.  There will be a food truck onside in case you want to have lunch there and children, along with any friends and family you want to invite, are welcome to join us!

Good Friday Worship

We are gathering on Good Friday to remind us that while we celebrate a risen King on Easter, he first had to die.  Good Friday, and the heaviness it brings, prepares us for the joy we wake with on Easter morning.

We encourage you to bring a friend and children are welcome (and encouraged) to join their parents for this gathering.

Ash Wednesday

This Wednesday, we will enter into our first Lenten season together. Lent is an oft-misunderstood season of the church calendar. Traditionally many Christians have taken the season as an opportunity to fast from certain foods or different parts of their lives as a discipline. Fasting is a wonderful Christian discipline, but where the distortion has come has been when the focus of lent has become the particular fast and not on the person and work of Jesus, particularly as it centers on the cross and his atonement for our sins and the defeat of death.

Our hope during this season is that we would learn together to both feel the problem plaguing our lives and the world, namely sin and death, and long for the solution of God coming in Jesus to declare war on these things culminating in the cross and resurrection of Good Friday and Easter.

Ash Wednesday reminds us of the problem of death. The world is not yet as it should be, and death is the regular reminder that we are waiting for the completed work of Jesus. Receiving ashes on your forehead is an admittedly goofy but powerful reminder that apart from God’s rescue our future is dust. We pray you’ll join us for this reminder and this time of prayer and remembrance of God’s promise to put death away forever.

*We will have coffee and bagels to ensure you're fueled for the day as you leave

The Church and Her Mission: A weekend with Doug and Nancy Wilson

We're excited to announce that Doug and Nancy Wilson are coming to Denver to spend time with our church the weekend of February 22-24!  We're overly excited to have them share, with both our church and those in our extended community, on the church and her mission.

A bit of background on the Wilson's: Doug is the pastor of Christ Church in Moscow, ID.  He has led the founding of Canon Press, Logos Classical Christian School, New Saint Andrews College, and the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC).  He has also been blamed for the current renewal in classical and Christian education (largely through his book The Case for Classical Christian Education).  Doug and Nancy have written more books than is reasonable to list here and their three children are rather remarkable in their own right (we have a handful of their books for sale at the Information Table on Sundays!).  Pastor Wilson has consistently held up a biblical vision for the life of the church and how she should faithfully engage the world she inhabits.

We hope you can attend one, two, or all three events we have scheduled with them:

MAKING A MARRIAGE & SENDING CHILDREN

There are few things in life more momentous and central than marriage and raising children. There are also few things that have more divergent opinions about what they are for and how to do them (which is why this section in the local bookstore takes up rows).  At Trinity, we believe that the life of the family is one of the most central vocations given to men and women in our world.  It is fundamental to our calling to see the world filled with the goodness and beauty of God and is vital to our life as a church.  For that very reason, we are going to gather for three weeks, starting on Monday, October 29th at 6:30, to talk together about the why and how of marriage and children.

Please join us as we try and think about these things through the framework of God’s reign and the gospel.  Each night of the seminar we will look at how God defines these relationships during a time of teaching and then have time to discuss what these relationships might look like in the day to day realities of life.

Join us on Mondays, October 29–November 12 for a three-week seminar with an in-depth look at what it means to apply the good reign of Jesus to our home life.

Childcare is available for crawlers to 3 and Children's Catechism Class will be available for children in Pre-K through 5th grade.

Men's Breakfast

We hope you can join us as we work our way through Sinclair Ferguson’s book, The Christian Life.  It is a wonderful introduction to how God saves us and transforms us.  We believe that men are made by God to lead their families and to shape the culture around them in particular ways.  What we believe about God, the good life, and grace will be the soil out of which that cultural and home leadership grows.  We want that soil to be saturated with true and beautiful things. Pick up the book on Sunday on our Information Table.

10/25/18: Chapter 6 - Chapter 10 (pp. 43-96)

Suggested Continuation:
By 11/1/18 Chapter 11 - Chapter 14 (pp. 97-144)

Women's Drinks and Discussion

While getting together over food and drinks is a great way to get to know one another, we also want to be a church full of people who are always on the lookout for ways to be shaped more and more into the people (and in our case, women) who God calls and empowers us to be.

During this first women’s gathering of the fall, we are going to be discussing the short booklet by Timothy Keller titled The Freedom Of Self-Forgetfulness: The Path To True Christian Joy. This short book is based off 1 Corinthians 3:21-4:7 and helps us to understand what it looks like to view ourselves rightly which will bring forth the freedom we have to be who God has created us to be in Christ. In the book, Keller quotes Soren Kierkegaard who said, “it is the normal state of the human heart to try to build it’s identity around something besides God.” This book helps us to not only spot what we have wrongly built our identity around but also helps us to rightly shape our identity around Christ. As you read (or listen), please write down a couple of things that stood out to you and join us on the 11th of October (oh, and bring a drink or snack to share).

You can purchase the Kindle version or buy the paperback on Amazon Amazon or you can borrow and listen to the book on Hoopla or overdrive for free (it’s about 40 minutes long).
