While getting together over food and drinks is a great way to get to know one another, we also want to be a church full of people who are always on the lookout for ways to be shaped more and more into the people (and in our case, women) who God calls and empowers us to be.
During this first women’s gathering of the fall, we are going to be discussing the short booklet by Timothy Keller titled The Freedom Of Self-Forgetfulness: The Path To True Christian Joy. This short book is based off 1 Corinthians 3:21-4:7 and helps us to understand what it looks like to view ourselves rightly which will bring forth the freedom we have to be who God has created us to be in Christ. In the book, Keller quotes Soren Kierkegaard who said, “it is the normal state of the human heart to try to build it’s identity around something besides God.” This book helps us to not only spot what we have wrongly built our identity around but also helps us to rightly shape our identity around Christ. As you read (or listen), please write down a couple of things that stood out to you and join us on the 11th of October (oh, and bring a drink or snack to share).
